Fungal Couture Project
Project Overview
Half flower, half human. As the two forms merge, the flower begins to overtake and rot from within. The piece explores the tension between life and decay, while transparency and negative space reflect the overlapping of both worlds.
Workflow
I wanted to visually communicate the battle between life and death, together with the rotting and blooming. I created fake mold out of painted cotton and intertwined it with a dainty beaded top, showcasing beauty against ugliness. Throughout the whole garment I played with transparency and negative space for the idea of 2 elements overlapping.
